Our client, the Idaho Commission on Hispanic Affairs, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate, to support its policy team during the legislative session. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Idaho state government, legislative research, public policy, and community engagement while working alongside Commission staff.

Pay and schedule: $13.00 p/h. This is a 3-month temporary internship, starting ASAP, with approximately 12–15 hours per week.

What you’ll do:

  • Work alongside the Commission’s policy team to support research, legislative tracking, and community engagement related to statewide policy issues

  • Conduct legislative and policy research on bills, resolutions, and agency initiatives

  • Track state legislation related to education, workforce, health, and community affairs

  • Draft policy briefs, bill summaries, fact sheets, and talking points for staff

  • Attend legislative hearings, committee meetings, and stakeholder briefings

  • Assist in preparing reports and updates for Commission leadership and community partners

  • Support communications related to office, legislative, and policy matters

  • Perform administrative and other related duties as assigned

What you’ll need:

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate, in political science, public policy, public administration, law, or a related field

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong research and analytical abilities with excellent attention to detail

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and online research tools

  • Professional demeanor and commitment to confidentiality

  • Knowledge of Idaho’s legislative process or an interest in state government preferred

  • Experience with policy writing, government relations, or communications preferred
