Work alongside a drone pilot, assisting with visual observation and supporting drone operations
    • Excellent opportunity with the County Mosquito Abatement Division
    • Work four 10-hour shifts and enjoy three-day weekends (Monday–Thursday and Tuesday–Friday schedules)
    • Long-term, full-time, seasonal position lasting up to 9 months
    • $17.50 per hour starting wage
    • Pay increase available upon obtaining the required licensing

Duties:

    Identify and treat mosquito breeding sites and standing water using larvicides
    Inspect and monitor catch basins, ponds, ditches, containers, and other water-holding areas
    Document treatments, product usage, and environmental conditions; monitor effectiveness and perform follow-ups
    Operate application equipment, backpack sprayers, spreaders, and surveillance tools
    Assist the pilot with airspace awareness, obstacle detection, and maintaining visual line of sight (VLOS), while monitoring aircraft position, altitude, and surroundings
    Support safe takeoff, landing, and site setup; communicate real-time hazards to the pilot; and help ensure efficient operations by reducing pilot workload and improving situational awareness
    Assist drone pilot with setup, pre-flight checks, visual observation, battery changes, loading products, and safe launch/recovery
    Use mobile devices, GPS units, and hand-held computers for navigation, mapping, and documentation
    Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas; follow proper storage and disposal of pesticide containers
    Wear and maintain PPE and navigate varied field environments
    Communicate professionally with the public regarding mosquito control efforts
    Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

    Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
    • Must be drug-free
    • Ability to obtain required Pest Department licensing within one month of hire
    • Knowledge of basic mathematics for accurate mixing and pesticide application
    • Ability to safely operate pest control equipment
    • Ability to read, understand, and follow chemical labels, SDS sheets, and written work orders
    • Ability to recognize pest infestations and assess treatment needs
    • Ability to use computers, mobile field devices, and GPS technology
    • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and the public
    • Ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively as part of a team
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions
    • Ability to obtain ATV certification prior to operating ATV equipment if required
    • Willingness to work in a safety-sensitive position subject to random drug testing
    • Ability to be cross-trained as needed
