Our client, County Parks and Waterways, is seeking a dependable Parks Maintenance Technician for its Barber Valley location at Barber Park. This is an excellent seasonal opportunity offering paid, on-the-job training and a combination of grounds, facility, and public-area maintenance work.
Pay and schedule: Starting at $17.50/hour for the first season. Primary shift is 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying hours between 7:00 AM and 10:00 PM during peak season is required.
What you’ll do:
Maintain park grounds by mowing, trimming, weeding, raking, and pruning
Clean public facilities, restrooms, windows, and outdoor areas
Remove trash, sweep, mop, and complete general janitorial tasks
Safely operate hand tools, power tools, landscaping equipment, and light trucks
Inspect equipment for damage and maintain inventory records
Perform preventive maintenance on equipment
Follow workplace safety procedures and properly use required PPE
Assist with other Parks and Waterways duties as assigned
What you’ll need:
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
Must have held a valid driver’s license for at least two years
Basic knowledge of facility maintenance, repairs, tools, and equipment
Familiarity with landscaping and grounds-maintenance practices
Understanding of workplace safety procedures
Ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions
Strong customer-service and professional communication skills
Ability to work effectively with coworkers and the public
Ability to safely operate equipment, motor vehicles, and light trucks
Ability to safely lift up to 40 pounds and perform physical outdoor work
Flexibility to work a nonstandard schedule, including weekends and holidays
Ability to pass a drug screening
